Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep the arc length constantly and to enable the groove profile control of good accuracy by correcting the position of a welding torch in the width direction of a groove based on the result by comparing the height positions of the welding torch of one end part and another end part in the groove width direction by detecting them. CONSTITUTION:A detector 15 detects the height position of a welding torch and the detected value is inputted to a discriminator 16. The discriminator 16 discriminates the right and left positions of a welding torch, the height hR of the welding torch of the weaving right side is outputted from the R side of the discriminator 16 and stored in a memory 17. Similarly from the left side of the discriminator 16 the height hL of the torch is outputted and stored in a memory 18. The right and left positions are compared by a comparator 19 and the difference thereof is amplified by an amplifier 20 and inputted to an X axis motor control circuit 21 and the welding torch is subjected to positional correction in the groove width direction, so that the difference in the right and left heights may become zero by driving an X axis motor 22. The groove profile control of good accuracy can thus be executed.
