Abstract

PURPOSE:To smoothly perform paper insert operation, by providing guide members so that the ones positioned at a central part are protruded toward a paper guide as compared with the ones at both ends or providing them only to an area near to the central part with respect to said guide and controlling a carriage so as to move the same to the vicinity of the center at the insertion time of paper. CONSTITUTION:A columnar platen 2 supports printing paper P so as to move the same along the outer periphery thereof. A carriage 4 is provided so as to be movable along the platen 2 to mount a printing head 5. A paper guide 7 is provided on the carriage 5 to form a paper passage 8 between the platen 2 and the paper guide 7. Guide members 14 are provided on a paper delivery side from the paper guide 7 to press and guide the printing paper P toward the platen. These guide members 14 are provided so that the ones 14a at the center in the longitudinal direction of the platen 2 are protruded toward the paper guide 7 from the ones 14b at both ends or provided only to the area to the center so as to provide intervals from both ends of the platen 2. A control apparatus such as a microcomputer is provided to control the movement of the carriage 4 so that the paper guide 7 is positioned in the vicinity of the center of the platen 2 until the leading end of printing paper reaches the guide members 14.
