Due to the spread of OA (office automation) equipment, the problem of wires running around in offices while exposing the floor has already been addressed by the use of ultra-thin tape known as so-called undercarpet cables, as shown in Figure 1. Electric wire 1 has been commercialized. The tape electric wire 1 has a plurality of conductors 2 and is laid between a floor surface 3 and a carpet 4. The feature of this type of cable is that it is ultra-thin and hardly protrudes from the floor, so it does not interfere with aesthetics or safety. It has the excellent advantage of being able to be bent and installed.

However, at present, these undercarpet cables are limited to metal cables, and there are no cables using optical fibers. As shown in FIG. 3, optical fiber tapes that use optical fibers include a plurality of optical fiber cores 5 and an auxiliary member 6 having a sufficiently larger diameter than the optical fibers 5 arranged in parallel and provided with a protective coating 7. There is an electric wire 8, but it is hardly used as an undercarpet cable.

The reason for this is that, unlike the case of the metal undercarpet cable, it cannot be wired by bending it as shown in Figure 2, and in addition, it cannot be wired by bending it horizontally on the floor as shown in Figure 4. This is because it cannot be done. This is because the optical fiber core 5A and the auxiliary member 6 are in close contact with the protective coating 7, so when bending the optical fiber core 5A and the auxiliary member 6A located on the outside do not stretch, the entire body will bend as shown in Figure 4. Never. Even if a material that is easily stretched is used for the auxiliary member 6, the optical fiber core wire 5 cannot avoid characteristic deterioration due to stretching, and in the worst case, breakage. Further, the role of the auxiliary member 6 in this cable is, for example, when a force is applied from above as shown in FIG. 3, the auxiliary member 6, which has a larger diameter than the optical fiber core 5, supports the force and protects the optical fiber core 5 from external pressure. It also serves as a tensile strength member and wrinkle to protect the optical fiber core 5 from tensile forces during wiring.

Therefore, as mentioned above, a soft material that is too easy to stretch cannot fulfill its original role of supporting external pressure, so there is a problem in using an auxiliary member that is easy to stretch for the purpose of making the cable easier to bend.

As mentioned above, conventionally commercialized optical fiber tape cables meet the requirements for undercarpet cables in that they are thin, but they can also be bent as shown in Figure 2, and as shown in Figure 4. It cannot be bent on a horizontal plane. In other words, the most important requirement for undercarpet cables, which is that the wiring direction can be changed freely on the floor in an office, cannot be satisfied, and for this reason, undercarpet cables using optical fibers have not been commercialized. There is.

[Structure of the invention] In order to achieve the above object, the optical undercarpet cable of the invention includes a tensile strength member, a plurality of optical fiber cores, and a plurality of linear auxiliary members having a diameter larger than the optical fiber cores. and the tensile strength body is enclosed in a state in which the tensile strength body is tightly attached to approximately the center in the width direction, and the plurality of optical fiber core wires and the plurality of auxiliary members are placed on both sides of the tensile strength body at a certain interval. and a protective coating having a plurality of tubular holes arranged in parallel with each other, and the plurality of optical fiber cores and the plurality of auxiliary members are placed in the tubular holes.

As shown in FIG. 5, in the optical undercarpet cable of the present invention, a tensile strength member 10 such as a steel wire is disposed approximately in the widthwise center of the protective sheath 7 in close contact with the protective sheath 7, and on both sides thereof, Tubular holes 11 and 12 are provided at a certain interval and lined up in parallel with the tensile strength member 10, and the optical fiber core 5 is placed in the tubular hole 11, and the auxiliary member 6 is placed in the tubular hole 12 with a sufficient gap between them. It has been inserted.

Further, FIG. 7 shows an example of application of FIG. 5, in which the optical fibers 2 are also arranged outside the auxiliary member 6. In this case, the number of optical fibers arranged outside is small;
Even if this optical undercarpet cable is stepped on by a foot, the auxiliary member 6 can support this force and protect the outer optical fiber core wire only.

As described above, by inserting the optical fiber core and the auxiliary member into a tubular hole or pipe that can maintain a sufficient gap around each, the optical fiber core and the auxiliary member can be inserted into the tubular hole or the pipe. It is possible to move within the cross-sectional direction and longitudinal direction.

In this case, the outer auxiliary member 6 with a large bending radius
A. The optical fiber core wire 5A should naturally be subjected to tension in the longitudinal direction, but since it is movable within the tubular holes 12 and 11 as described above, it is not subjected to any tension. Furthermore, the tensile strength member 10 is in close contact with the protective coating 7 and cannot move, but since it is located approximately at the center of the protective coating 7 in the width direction, the length of the pass line does not change even if it is bent horizontally. I don't receive any power. Therefore, it can be easily bent as shown in FIG.

Incidentally, since the optical fiber core 5A and auxiliary member 6A located on the outside and the optical fiber core 5B and auxiliary member 6B located on the inside have different pass line lengths, the former is a cable terminal as shown in FIG. The former retracts from the latter, and the latter pops out. However, when actually laying the optical undercarpet cable of the present invention, one end of the optical undercarpet cable is laid with a length allowance, and the unnecessary end is cut off after installation. There is no way to escape to 5A or auxiliary member 6A.

In this way, the optical undercarpet cable of the present invention can be bent freely on the horizontal plane, and since the tensile strength member 10 is in close contact with the protective coating 7, when this cable is subjected to tension in the longitudinal direction, the optical undercarpet cable can be bent freely on the horizontal plane. The fiber core wire 5 is protected, and even if the cable is stepped on by a foot, the auxiliary member 6 supports the force, so it is easy to wire and is resistant to external pressure.

Furthermore, if the gap between the tubular hole and the pipe, the optical fiber core wire, and the auxiliary member is filled with a liquid such as silicone oil, a gel-like filler, or a gel-like substance such as silicone, these will act as a buffer material. Therefore, it has the effect of being more resistant to external pressure. In this case, the buffer material may be filled only in the tubular hole and pipe in which the optical fiber core is inserted.

Because it has little deterioration and is resistant to tensile force and pressure applied from the top of the cable, it can be wired freely on the floor, making it a great contribution to information processing in offices, which has been increasing significantly in recent years.
