Abstract

PURPOSE:To form at a low cost, easily and accurately a mold for cast-molding a roll whose central part is expanded or recessed, by converting a straight cylinder to a deformed cylinder by shrinking and deforming it in a cooling process and thereafter pulling an original mold out after reheating. CONSTITUTION:For a straight cylinder 2, a material which is softer than an original old and whose linear expansion coefficient is larger than the original mold is used. The inner diameter of the straight cylinder 2 is made smaller than the outer diameter of the original mold taking expansion when hot-pressed into consideration, and when the inner diameter of the straight cylinder has become larger than the outer diameter of the original mold due to expansion by heating, the original mold 1 is inserted into the straight cylinder and until the temp. of the straight cylinder reaches ambient temp., it is left to cool.
