Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of the quality and capacity of the packed substance in an artificial organ, by storing a liquid held to high temp. after sterilization in a sterilized liquid storage tank whose internal pressure exceeds the saturated steam pressure of water before passing the liquid having predetermined temp. through the artificial organ. CONSTITUTION:A pressure apparatus such as a compressor 5 is used in order to set the pressure in a sterilized liquid storage tank 6 to pressure exceeding the saturated steam pressure of water having the temp. in an autoclave 1 and the pressure in the sterilized liquid storage tank 6 must be higher than the saturated steam pressure of water having the upper limit temp. in the variation of the temp. in the autoclave 1. Since usual sterilizing temp. is 121 deg.C, the pressure in said storage tank 6 is pref. 1.2atm or more being the saturated steam pressure of water at that temp. A method for sterilizing a liquid by keeping the same to steam sterilizing temp. for a predetermined time by external heating due to high pressure steam is performed in the same way as a usual high pressure steam sterilizing method using an autoclave. The sterilized high temp. liquid is cooled by a cooling apparatus 7 on the way of the passage of the liquid to an artificial organ 2 to pass the sterilized low temp. liquid through the artificial organ 2 and the internal packed liquid of said organ is substituted with said liquid to cool the interior of the artificial organ.
