Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the display image of an organ, by detecting the contour of a noticeable image having an organ shape and obtaining the ultrasonic reflection signal thereof to display the same two-dimensionally. CONSTITUTION:The reflected signal from the interior of an object to be examined is received by the same caliber to be amplified by a receiving amplifier 4 and subsequently subjected to waveform processing by a signal processing circuit 6 through a receiving beam polarizing and/or converging delay circuit 5 to be inputted to the first digital scanning converter 7 and converted to a standard television scanning mode by said converter 7 to display a tomographic image on a B-mode display device 8. Next, the tomographic image is moved in a Z-direction by a control part 12 and a transmitter-receiver 1 and the reflected signal corresponding to each Y-coordinates is displayed on the basis of brightness from the X-Y tomographic image at Z=Z1. On and after, Z- coordinates are changed and the same processing is repeated with respect to a plurality of X-Y tomographic images to make it possible to obtain an S-mode image, that is, a two-dimensional image wherein the surface of an organ is developed.
