Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the processing time necessary for collation and to make adaptation to real time processing possible by preparing the ranks necessary for the collation and the data on these ranks in a dictionary. CONSTITUTION: A dictionary memory 19 is connected via bit selecting section 20 to a second CPU 18. The dictionary 19 is constituted in such a manner that the retrieval code strings including retrieval codes in the ranks can be retrieved at each of the respective ranks. A retrieval means extracts the code strings including the codes existing in the ranks of the code strings inputted to each of the respective ranks for all or a part of the ranks of the inputted code strings and decides the standard code strings extracted commonly to the respective ranks as the results of the retrieval. Namely, the retrieval means extracts the standard code strings having the same codes in the same ranks as the ranks of the code strings to be collated for each of the respective ranks and outputs the extracted code strings commonly to the respective ranks as the results of the collation. As a result, the processing time is shortened and the adaptation to the real time processing is made possible.
