PURPOSE:To eliminate the influence of residual charges without providing a special destaticizer by driving an exposure means and destaticizing a photosensitive body by light from the exposure means. CONSTITUTION:At the end of a printing cycle, all the elements of a LED head 14 are lighted and a photosensitive body drum 12 is rotated once. A main motor is stopped with a surface potential maintained minus and a value close to 0V. Therefore, the influence of so called 'electrostatic memory' can be completely removed caused by the surface potential of the photosensitive drum 12 left ununiformized. Thus, an excellent printed image without an after image can be obtained in printing out operation which is going to be restarted.
