Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent partial loading of a grindstone and intrusion of abrasive grains by using a circular cylindrical grindstone and pressing an end surface of the grindstone to a body to be ground while rotating the grindstone around a central axis inclined to a plane vertical to an axis of rotation of a cylinder comprising an electroconductive material. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical grindstone 1 is used. The grindstone is not present in the neighbourhood of an axis 10 of revolution where the peripheral velocity of the axis is almost zero. The grinding of the surface by the grindstone is first commenced when the peripheral velocity attains to >= a certain value. Therefore, no loading of the grindstone is generated. By inclining the axis 10 of the grindstone, the relative velocity of the contact part 4 of the grindstone with a cylinder 2 changes continuously when the velocity attains >= a certain value. The direction of grinding changes also continuously and gradually between a part near the external periphery of the contact part 4 and a part near the internal periphery, when the axis 10 of the grindstone is within a plane apart by (d) from an axis 20 of the cylinder. By this constitution, a satisfactory ground surface is obtd.
