Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an optical plug insertion loss from being generated by composing the device of an optical outlet and an attachable and detachable plug, easily forming a branch waveguide by mounting the optical plug, and detaching the optical plug when branching is not necessary. CONSTITUTION:Fiber end surfaces of connecting components which have optical fibers incorporated and can rotate are made to abut on each other and held forming an optical transmission line. Then the two connecting components 23 and 24 are rotated around a center axis 22 as shown by an arrow to release the optical fiber end surfaces from contacting each other temporarily. Then the optical plug 17 is inserted into between the connecting components to form an optical branching circuit of optical fiber cores 19 and 20 and the branch waveguide 25. Consequently, the branch line is easily formed by attachment and detachment and the branch loss is prevented from being generated in the transmission line while optical branching is not performed (while the optical plug 17 is extracted).
