Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve classification efficiency by arraying trays consisting of perforated plates having a pore diameter of 5 to 25 times the average particle size of granular materials to be treated to multiple stages in series and blowing air into a classifying device from its bottom, thereby fluidizing the granular materials. CONSTITUTION: The granular material are continuously supplied from a supply device 6 by a compressor 7 and the a ir is blown up from the bottom 8 of the classifying device by using a fan 1. A valve 2 is so controlled that the linear velocity of the air stream in the lowermost stage chamber 18 attains 0.5 to 0.9 times the final velocity of the equil. particles in the respective stages. The linear velocity of the air stream in the lowermost stage chamber 19 is controlled by discharging part of the air from the discharge ports 9 disposed at the side walls of the respective stages. Probes 10 are inserted into the trays of the respective stages and the information from the probes 10 are inputted to a controller 11 and commands are transmitted to valves 12. As a result, classification is continuously and efficiency executed.
