Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as flame retardant, lubricant, etc., suppressing side reactions, by reacting a phosphazene derivative with a hydroxyaryl compound in the presence of a catalytic amount of a pyridine derivative using a strong inorganic base, etc., as an acid acceptor. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula IV (l is 1-m) can be produced by reacting (A) a phosphazene derivative of formula III (R is organic group bonded to P through O, S or N, OH or NH2; n >=3; m is 1-2n; p is 2n-m) or its mixture with (B) a hydroxyaryl compound of formula HOAr [Ar is (substituted)aryl] in the presence of (C) a catalytic amount of a pyridine derivative of formula I (Q<1> and Q<2> are lower alkyl or form a pyrrolidine ring, piperidine ring or morpholine ring together with N) using (D) a strong inorganic base or a tertiary amine of formula II (X<1> is alkyl, cycloalkyl, etc.; X<2> is lower alkyl or forms a pyrrolidine ring, etc., together with N) as an acid acceptor.
