USE:A photochromic compound. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a diamine with the compound of formula IV or its mixture with a compound of formula IV wherein norbornylidene is converted to adamantylidene or a compound of formula V (R2' is alkyl), etc., or with a compound of formula IV wherein norbornylidene is converted to adamantylidene or its mixture with a compound of formula V, etc., and cyclizing the reaction product.
