Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the effective utilization rate of a magnetic tape area and to prolong the recording time of the tape by controlling a distributor by timing pulses to distribute and transmit erasing signals successively and properly to respective erasing heads so that recording patterns are erased successively discretely at equal intervals. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording patterns mounted with 4 pieces of the erasing heads 4 can be successively recorded at equal intervals by each of the respective recording heads at the time when the recording heads 2 magnetize the magnetic tape successively by the recording signals fed respectively independently via a rotary transformer 9. Respective playback heads 3 trace on the tracks magnetized by the heads 2 and take out reproduction signals which are sent via an amplifier 27 to the rotary transformer 9. The erasing head 4 travel on the tape patterns in precedence to the recording heads 2 and, therefore, the heads 4 travel while erasing the tracks of the previously recorded tape patterns and thereafter, the recording heads 2 make recording successively. The unrecorded parts are thereby diminished, by which the effective utilization rate of the magnetic tape area is improved and the recording time of the tape is prolonged.
