Abstract

PURPOSE:To impart desirable oscillations to the wall surface part near the meniscus of the inside wall of a casting mold by specifying the differences in the excitation frequencies of respective oscillators and exciting the oscillators while changing the excitation frequencies of the adjacent oscillators. CONSTITUTION:The oscillators 1-12 having equal oscillation characteristics are excited after the differences in the excitation frequencies of the respective oscillators 1-12 of the casting mold for continuous casting disposed with said oscillators are kept within a 2kHz range and while the excitation frequencies of the adjacent oscillators are changed. The parts of the ultrasonic oscillation mold where the oscillations are always small are thereby eliminated and the oscillations in the respective parts of the ultrasonic oscillation mold are uniformized and are increased in amplitude. The burn on of the molten metal and the inside wall of the mold is, therefore, eliminated and breakout is prevented.
