Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently detect an open transmission line and a data error by adding an error check code comprising a prescribed bit pattern before and after a transmission data in a transmission equipment, and allowing a receiver to detect an open transmission line based on said error detection code. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter 20 and a receiver 30 are connected by a parallel transmission line 40 and a data is sent from the transmitter 20 to the receiver 30. A bit pattern of data '1' and a bit pattern of a data '0' are consecutive in all bits in, e.g. an error detection code CD so as to make an error check code CDa arranged just before the transmission data DT, the bit pattern whose bits are data '0' and a bit pattern whose bits are all data '1' are made continuous and the code CD is made of an error check code CDb arranged just after the transmission data DT. Thus, if an open line takes place in the transmission line 40, the data '1' does not appear in the error check codes CDa, CDb corresponding to the bit location. Thus, the open transmission line 40 and the data error caused by the open line are detected efficiently.
