Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the effective and sure confirmation of a long compound noun, etc., included in a sentence by detecting the compound noun consisting of plural continuous nouns and setting the pause time intervals among voice outputs related to those words forming the compound noun. CONSTITUTION:An input/output control part 3 stores the Japanese sentences produced at the outside into a document file 8 and at the same time takes a desired sentence out of the file 8 with an external request to send it to a word identifying part 4. The part 4 decomposes a sentences into words by collation with a word dictionary 9 and sends these words to a paragraph setting part 5. In this case, the reading form and the grammar/accent type are added to each word by reference to the dictionary 9. The part 5 utilizes these grammar information to arrange the words into paragraphs and at the same time gives the accent types to these paragraphs. Then the part 5 sends those information to a rule synthesizing part 6 for synthesization/output of voices. In case a long compound noun is decided in the paragraphs by a compound noun deciding part 7, this compound noun part is sent to a paragraph/compound noun pause control part 2. The part 2 sets the pause time intervals between the sentences and paragraphs or between the words of said compound noun.
