Treatments For Attaching Organic Compounds To Fibrous Goods
(AREA)
Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a hydrophilicity-imparting agent that contains a specific fatty acid ester and an alkyl phosphate and can give olefinic fibers highly durable hydrophilicity. CONSTITUTION: The objective hydrophilicity-imparting agent comprising (A) 10-90 wt.% of fatty acid esters comprising A1 : 50-100 wt.% of a polyoxyalkylene tri-fatty acid ester and A2 : 0-50 wt.% of a sorbitol tri-fatty acid ester and, (B) 10-30 wt.% of an alkyl phosphate is applied to olefinic fibers in an amount of 0.1-1.5 wt.%. The olefinic fibers are given durable hydrophilicity to water by this treatment to develop smooth process passage from melt-spinning to fiber production processes. In a preferred embodiment, the fatty acid of the component A comprises >=70 wt.% of 16-22C saturated fatty acids, while the alkyl groups in the component B comprise >=80 wt.% of 8-14C alkyls.
