Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic composition compounded with fibroin peptide ester, adsorbable to hair to protect the hair and restore the damaged hair and effective in imparting hair with moistness, oily feeling,natural gloss and luster. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic composition is produced by compounding 0.1-20wt.% of a compound of formula (R1 is side chain of amino acid constituting a fibroin peptide derived from silk; n is 2-20; R2 is 1-18C straight- or branched-chain alkyl or hydroxyalkyl) produced by esterifying a fibroin peptide obtained by hydrolyzing silk with an acid, an alkali or oxygen. The adsorptivity of the peptide to the hair and the affinity to the skin are improved and the peptide is made to be soluble in organic solvents such as alcohol by esterification to broaden the application range of the cosmetics and facilitate the preparation of the cosmetic.
