Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a life-prolonging agent for cut rose flowers, exhibiting excellent effect especially for prolonging the life and admiration period of cut rose flowers, by using metabolic sugars and phosphonic acids as active components. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains metabolic sugars (e.g. sucrose or glucose), phosphonic acids, aluminum sulfate and, as necessary, an antiseptic, etc. Examples of the phosphonic acids are phosphonic acid, phenylphosphonic acid, phenylphosphonic acid dialkyl ester, 2-carboxyethylphosphonic acid and 2-aminoethylphosphonic acid, among which phenylphosphonic acid is preferable from the viewpoint of availability and cost, etc. The amount of the metabolic sugars is 0.5-5.0wt.% under the condition of application and preferably about 25-50wt.% as a solution of 50-fold concentration. The amount of the phosphonic acids is about 100ppm under the condition of application and preferably about 0.5wt.% as a solution of 50-fold concentration.
