Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a superconductor capable of stably maintaining a superconducting state in a magnetic field, by containing a specific amount of Al in an element assembly, consisting essentially of a ternary metallic oxide consisting of Y, Ba and Cu and having superconducting characteristics. CONSTITUTION:A superconductor containing aluminum in an amount of 1-500ppm expressed in terms of Al2O3 in an element assembly, consisting essentially of a ternary metallic oxide consisting of yttrium, barium and copper and having superconducting characteristics. Aluminum ions are located between lattices and capable of suppressing movement of quantum magnetic fluxes entered the interior of the element assembly by adding the aluminum as described above. As a result, it is thought that temperature rise by movement of magnetic flux quantum can be suppressed and the superconducting state can be stably maintained even in the magnetic field. The amount of the aluminum oxide is determined from the following reasons. If the amount of the aluminum oxide added is <1ppm, suppressing effects on movement of quantum magnetic fluxes are not obtained. If the amount of the aluminum oxide exceeds 500ppm, effects of the aluminum as an impurity are increased and superconducting state itself is unstabilized.
