Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title prepolymer which can give a urethane elastomer excellent in tensile strength, tear strength, hardness and abrasion resistance and high in a frictional coefficient, by reacting a specified polyol component with tolylene diisocyanate. CONSTITUTION:A polyol component is obtained by mixing 50-25wt.% polytetramethylene ether glycol (A) of an average MW of 650-1,100 with 50-75wt.% polytetramethylene ether glycol (B) of an average MW of from the MW of component A plus 300 to 2,100. This polyol component is reacted with tolylene diisocyanate at an NCO to OH ratio of 1.4-1.8 to obtain a urethane prepolymer. Said prepolymer heated to 70-90 deg.C is mixed with a curing agent and a catalyst, and the resulting mixture is placed in a reactor 18, pressed with a cover 18a, and introduced under pressure into a space 13 formed between an inner mold 12 and an outer mold 12 through a feed pipe 17 and cured to obtain a urethane elastomer.
