PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of a steering wheel core bar while keeping the mechanical strength by forming a spoke core bar between a boss and a ring portion core bar at least by die casting of an aluminum alloy containing Mg, Fe, Mn, Si and Al in the respective specified ratios. CONSTITUTION:This steering wheel core bar 1 comprises a boss 2 made of steel, a ring portion core bar 3 formed by a steel pipe, and a plurality of spoke core bars 4 made of an aluminum alloy for die casting, which connect both of them 2, 3. In this case, the aluminum alloy for die casting, which forms the spoke core bars 4, is an alloy made of Al containing 1.50<=Mg<=2.40wt.%, 0.30<=Fe<=0.80wt.%, 0.20<=Mn<=0.39wt.%, Si<=1.0wt.% and unavoidable impurities. Thus, it is possible to obtain a core bar excellent in mechanical strength while being light.
