Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel compound containing piperazine skeleton in the main chain, having high ion exchange capacity, useful as an intermediate for cation exchange polymer, producible easily and having high value of industrial utilization. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer is expressed by formula I (R1a, R1b, R1c and R1d are H, 1-12C alkyl, etc.; R2 is H or methyl; n is integer of >=2). The polymer can be produced preferably by reacting piperazines of formula II with a halomethyloxirane compound of formula III (X is halogen) (e.g. epichlorohydrin) at a molar ratio of 1:1, treating the resultant piperazine- halomethyloxirane adduct with an alkali compound and subjecting the obtained N-glycidylpiperazine to ring-opening polymerization.
