Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the external short circuit of a battery and to increase the reliability by forming an electrical insulating film on the edge surface of the opening of a metal case whose opening is sealed with an electrical insulating gasket, and covering the outside of the case with a heat-shrinkable label. CONSTITUTION:An electrical insulating film 9 is circularly formed on the edge surface of the opening of a battery case 1. The outside of the case 1 is covered with a heat-shrinkable label or a heat-shrincable tube 8. Even it the label or tube 8 is damaged at the opening edge of the case 1 by rubbing or deterioration caused by storage, since the opening edge is covered with the insulating film 9, the insulation between the positive case 1 and a metallic negative bottom plate 7 is ensured, and the rupture and electrolyte leakage caused by external short circuit can be prevented. The insulating film 9 is formed in such a way that the opening of the case 1 is sealed with a gasket 6, and a synthetic resin paint is applied to the edge surface of the case and the outer surface of a sealing plate, then dried.
