Abstract

PURPOSE:To considerably shorten the work time of machine translation, by inputting and correcting the next sentence during the translation processing and performing translation without operating translation requesting key. CONSTITUTION:A man-machine interface task 21 is operated at the moment of input from a keyboard 1 and when a character is inputted, the task 21 holds it as text information and displays the input character on a display screen 3. In case of receiving information of the end of a sentence, the task 21 transfers the held text information to a translation processing task 23 and requests the task to translate it and waits for input from the keyboard 1 again. On the other hand, the translation processing task 23 accepts the request from the man-machine interface task 21 to start translation and generates and displays a translated sentence. Consequently, the editing operation such as the input and correction of the sentence and the generation of the translated sentence are executed in parallel. Thus, operator's input is not delayed by the generation of the translated sentence, and it is unnecessary to instruct the translation request.
