Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce cost and to prevent the deterioration of picture quality by applying time division multiplex to a luminance signal and a chrominance signal finished for noise reduction processing, retarding the result by one frame, separating the result into a luminance signal and a chrominance signal, applying the interpolation to them in the unit of picture elements and supplying the luminance signal and the chrominance finished for noise reduction processing to each of the outputs. CONSTITUTION:A multiplexing circuit 19 applies time division multiplex to a luminance signal and a chrominance signal subjected to band limit in the unit of picture elements to generate a multiplex signal YC. A frame memory 20 writes the multiplex signal YC in the order of supply and gives a delay time by one frame to the multiplex signal YC. The multiplexed signal YC is fed to the multiplex separation circuit 21, the multiplexed/demultiplexed luminance signal Y is supplied to a luminance interpolation circuit 22, from which a double speed luminance signal interpolated and arranged in the unit of picture elements is obtained. Moreover, the separated chrominance signal C is fed to a color interpolation circuit 23, from which a double speed color signal arranged and interpolated in the unit of picture elements is obtainmed. Thus, only one expensive large capacity frame memory is enough for the circuit and a remarkable low cost is attained.
