Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent characteristics of a bimetal and a bistable electromagnet from being affected by making a current flowing through an arc at the time of accidental short circuit flow from a power source side terminal to a fixed contactor, an arc extinguisher, a frame, and to a load side terminal. CONSTITUTION:With a trip action of a trip device 19, a movable contactor 6 opens while a handle 17 remains in an on condition. In case an arc is produced between a movable contact point 5 and a fixed contact point 3 according to the opening of the movable contactor 6, the arc is extinguished with an arc extinguisher 13. In this case, the arc flows between a 1st arc running body 26 and a 2nd arc running body 27 via an arc-extinguishing grid 28. The current at this time flows from a power source side terminal 1 a flexible wire 15 a fixed contactor 2 the fixed contactor 3 the 1st arc running body 26 the arc-extinguishing grid 28 the 2nd arc running body 27 a frame 20 and to a load side terminal 11. As a result, the current due to the arc does not flow through a coil 9 and a heater portion 16.
