Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the impregnating depth of an impregnating material without destruction of a structure, by bringing a pair of electrodes into contact with the surfaces of an impregnated element, and applying a high frequency current. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 10 and 10' are brought into contact with the surfaces of an impregnated element 9. An inductor 6 is connected to one electrode 10. A high frequency current is applied across the pair of the electrodes 10 and 10' through the inductor 6. An RLC series circuit is formed with the inductance L of the inductor 6, the electrostatic capacitance C formed between the electrodes 10 and 10' and the resistance R of the impregnated element, which is impregnated with the impregnating material between the electrodes 10 and 10'. When the RLC series circuit is resonated, the impedance of the circuit is made equal to the resistance R of the impregnated element 9. The output signal from the RLC series circuit at this time is detected 11, and the value of the DC component is measured with an ammeter 13. Thus, the change in resistance R of the impregnated element 9 is obtained, and the impregnating depth of the impregnating material is measured.
