Abstract

PURPOSE:To coincide a page length controlled by a printer device with a page length controlled by an application software and prevent the page length values from being varied, by measuring the page length of a cut paper used, through utilizing paper feeding and a signal from a paper absence detector. CONSTITUTION:A cut paper B is supplied from a cut-paper supplying device A to pass over a paper absence detector C, and is printed by a printing head D. The device A is driven by a paper feed driving part 3. With a switch on a console panel 6 depressed, a cut paper length measuring condition is set. First, when a signal from the paper absence detector C indicates the presence of the paper, the paper is discharged. Next, the cut paper B from the supplying device A is fed over the detector C, and the feeding-in operation is finished when the uppermost end of a printable region of the cut paper comes to a position beneath the head D. Then, a message that the current printing position coincides with the uppermost end of the printable region is printed. By these operations, errors in control of page length are eliminated, and printing as intended by the user can be performed.
