Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically control a feed amount during sewing and to accurately pile up a cloth matching position at the time of ending sewing by detecting a cloth position during a cloth movement stop period by using an image sensor and detecting a deviation amount for each prescribed stitch number. CONSTITUTION: The output signals of a main shaft detector 23 for detecting the stop period of a feed means are inputted to a timing generator 24 and upper and lower image sensors 14 and 15 and respective level detectors 25 and 26 are latched and outputted to an input/output part 27. Then, when the image sensors 14 and 15 detect an intermediate notch or a cloth end in the lower position period of a needle, that is a feed stop period, the respective lengths of upper and lower cloths from a stitch formation part to the cloth matching position for each N stitches are obtained and the deviation amount is calculated. Also, a theoretical value to reduce the deviation amount is obtained for each N stitches from the deviation amount of the N stitches before and the present deviation amount and a stepping motor 9 is driven through a driver 28 so as to add a correction value obtained from it and an actual measurement value to an upper feed amount at present.
