Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve grinding work efficiency by surface-rotating a magnetic disk substrate, bringing a rotating magnet into contact with said surface, and executing simultaneously disk chattering to give a micro unevenness along surface grinding and rotating circular circumference directions. CONSTITUTION:On one side of a circular hard disk substrate 1 composed of aluminium, etc., an Ni-P type plating film 2 is adhered, and at a chuck part 31 provided at one edge of a rotating shaft 32, the rear surface side of the substrate 1 is vacuum-absorbed. The rotating shaft 32 is fitted to a static pressure air bearing 33 to constitute a substrate driving device 3, sends air through an air supplying path 34 to the clearance provided between the rotating shaft 32 and an air bearing 33 and the surface vibration of the substrate 1 is suppressed to 0.1mum or below. In this constitution, an outer circumferential surface supported to a plating film 2 side with a supporting shaft body 42 is abutted to a circular grindstone 41, this is shaft-rotated in the same direction a2 as a rotation direction a1 of the substrate 1 and between directions b1 and b2 in parallel to the rotation diameter it is moved in parallel. Thus, a micro unevenness is generated even in the circumferential direction.
