Abstract
PURPOSE:To find a fire and to monitor the degree of contamination of air in a room by detecting the change of the quantity of light of infrared rays emitted from a light emitting part which are received by a light reception processing part after passing a monitor area. CONSTITUTION:Since the quantity of light of infrared rays received by a light reception processing part II is reduced according as the carbon dioxide concentration in a monitor area 7 is increased, the detection signal level of a pyroelectric infrared detector 3 is reduced according as this concentration is increased. Since only the variation of received infrared rays is detected in accordance with the characteristic of the pyroelectric infrared detector 3 and the differential output is obtained, this signal is amplified to a prescribed level by a signal amplification processing circuit 4, and thereafter, the processing output is obtained by peak holding or integration. The obtained processing output is compared with a reference level by a level discriminating circuit 5 because it is reduced in accordance with the carbon dioxide concentration in the monitor area 7, and an abnormality signal is outputted if it is lower than the reference level. Thus, smoke and flames are sensed and the degree of contamination of air due to existence of persons or the like is detected.
