Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the incorrect reports through a gas heater, etc., and to improve the sensitivity of a fine detector by separating the radiated infrared rays into plural wavelength bands and deciding the time variations of the absolute value and the relative ratio among the detection outputs of each wavelength band. CONSTITUTION:The radiation infrared rays and the visible light beams received from an infrared ray source S are made incident on a detecting part D and separated into plural wavelength bands. Then the intensity of the infrared rays is detected for each wavelength band. The infrared rays radiated from flames are interrupted periodically by a chopper 1 and made incident on the infrared ray detectors 6-9 after passing through BPF 2-5 of different transmitting wavelength bands. The output signals of detectors 6-9, a photodiode 10 and a photointerrupter are processed by a signal processing circuit 13. The circuit 13 decides whether the subject source S is equal to a flame or not based on the output value of each detector as well as the relative ratio and the time variations of those outputs.
