Abstract

CONSTITUTION:A self-excited step-down type chopper regulator controls an output voltage by controlling the ON-OFF period of a switching transistor(Tr) 11, and is composed of a flywheel diode 14, a smoothing inductor 15, a driving Tr 12 and others. In this case, there is provided a voltage clamping circuit for clamping an output with a voltage determined by a Zener diode 17 and a resistance 19. Then, Tr 18 is connected with the base of Tr 12, and when an output voltage is going to exceed the operating voltage of said Zener diode 17, Tr 18 is turned ON and Tr 12 is turned OFF to set Tr 11 to OFF. Thus, a voltage higher than a clamping voltage is not generated at an output end.
