Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately detect the position of the center of a display image in each area even if the S/N of the display image is not very good by interpolating an input image signal, approximating the signal to a quadratic equation by applying a threshold. CONSTITUTION:In a signal generator 2, a repetitious pattern in a low frequency is generated and displayed in a display device 1 for measurement. Thus displayed pattern is picked up by an image pickup device 4, and a signal from the device 4 is supplied to an image processor 5. In the processor 5, a signal from the device 4 is converted to digital signal, and this signal is subjected to the interpolation processing, then a threshold is applied, so that a signal from the generator 2 is approximated to the quadratic equation in order to obtain the position of the center of each area. The above processing is executed for respective waveforms of colors R, G, B in order to calculate errors in the positions of center among the respective colors, and thus convergence error is detected. Based on this convergence error, the convergence is adjusted.
