Abstract
PURPOSE:To introduce surge currents from the center of a tabular varistor element, and to equalize electric current density by previously soldering electrode plates, which have notches in the radial direction and from central sections of which external terminals are led out, onto the surfaces of electrodes when the electrodes are formed onto both the surface and the rear of the element. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 6, diameters of which are made slightly smaller than that of a discoid varistor element 5, are applied onto both the surface and the rear of the varistor element 5 composed of zinc oxide, etc. When external terminals 8a and 8b are led out of these electrodes 6, these external terminals 8a and 8b are led out through electrode plates 7a and 7b, diameters of which are made slightly smaller than those of the electrodes 6, without being directly mounted to the electrodes 6. In the constitution, notches 9 terminating at a center are out in to the electrode plates 7a and 7b while angles are made to differ, and the external terminals 8a and 8b, noses of which are bent and which are abutted against the central sections of the electrode plates 7a and 7b, are soldered to the notches 9. Accordingly, currents input to the terminals 8a and 8b are dispersed respectively to the electrode plates 7a and 7b, thus increasing discharge withstand current rating.
