Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the measurement accuracy without increasing the cost much by uniforming the temperature by gas bubbling and measuring the temperature of the molten metal whose surface is exposed partially by a radiation thermometer. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 whose internal surface is lined with a refractory material contains the molten steel 2. Then the surface of the molten steel 2 is covered with slag 3, an air-permeable refractory material 7 is provided to a bottom wall part, and a gas supply pipe 8 is connected. Further, a vent pipe 9 is inserted into the container 1 from its opening, the tip is dipped in the molten steel 2, and inert gas is blown into the molten steel 2 from both the pipe and refractory material 7. This bubbling operation stirs the molten steel 2 to uniform the temperature on the whole. Further, air bubbles which more up force part of the slag 3 to the periphery to form a molten steel exposed part 10. This exposed part 10 is present stably by controlling the intensity of the bubbling and the position is also fixed because the blowing-in position of the gas is fixed; and the temperature of this part is measured by the thermometer 6 continuously or at constant intervals of time.
