Abstract

PURPOSE:To constrain the fluctuation in the shell thickness by reducing the fluctuation of a molten metal level, to prevent breakout and to stably manufacture a steel stock of low high temp. strength by executing casting by controlling the specific water amt. of a secondary cooling in the specified amt. in case of a continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:In case of the continuous casting of the steel stock whose tendile strength at 1,100 deg.C is <=0.5kgf/mm<2>, the specific water amt. in a secondary cooling is regulated to 1.5-1.6l/kg. The shape of the bulging part 1 of the cast billet caused in this case always becomes constant. By this method, the steel stock of low high temp. strength can stably be manufactured.
