Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sheetlike object improved in reliability and suited as an electrical insulation material used under severe conditions of high temperature and high voltage, by incorporating an aromatic polymer and specified calcined mica particles in a sheetlike material. CONSTITUTION:A sheetlike object containing an aromatic polymer and mica particles. Said mica particles are those characterized in that the particle diameter of an ashed ceramic formed after calcining at 800 deg.C for 1hr is 1-50mu, and the content of the ashed ceramic is 7ppm or below based on the sheetlike material. Examples of the aromatic polymers used include aromatic polyamides, aromatic polyimides, and aromatic polyazoles. In order to obtain said mica particles, it is necessary that the purity of mica particles be increased to a value higher than the conventional. In order to purity mica, purification is performed in several stages by using a sedimentation tank, a classifier, etc.
