Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a moldable polyaniline excellent in electroconductivity, by eliminating the carboxyl groups from a polyaniline derivative having carboxyl groups in the benzene rings by decarboxylation. CONSTITUTION:A polyaniline derivative having carboxyl groups in the benzene rings, obtained by polymerizing an aniline derivative of the formula (wherein R1-4 are each H or COOH and at least one of them is COOH) by a chemical or electrolytic oxidation process, is dissolved in an organic solvent such as dimethylacetamide, and is formed into a film on a base by, for example, casting. The formed film is heated to 100-500 deg.C for 10min-24hr to effect decarboxylation.
