Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve stability of an emulsion polymerization and to make a reaction smooth by preparing an emulsifier for a water-resin dispersion with at least one species of compound having a (meth)acryl radical represented by a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:A emulsifier for a water-resin dispersion is prepared with a compound represented by formula I (wherein formula II is residue of alkenylsuccinic acid, R2 is 8-22C straight-chained or branched alkenyl radical, R1 is hydrogen atom. or methyl radical, R3 is 1-4C alkyl, phenyl or tolyl radical, A is 2-4C alkylene or substituted alkylene radical and n is an integer of 5-200). This compound is obtained, e.g., by heating and allowing to react a half ester, which is obtained by a heating reaction of alkenylsuccinic anhydride with polyoxyalkylene-monoalkyl ester in the presence of a catalyst, with glycidylacryl (meth)acrylate.
