Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a reflecting mirror having a desired shape and size with high accuracy by forming an electrocasting layer and backing metal on a thin metallic film coated and formed on the outside peripheral face of a base material having the same shape as the shape of the hole of the reflecting mirror and separating the electrocasting layer and the backing metal from the base material with the thin metallic film as a boundary by a difference in coefft. of thermal expansion.
CONSTITUTION: The thin metallic film 2 is coated on the outside peripheral face of the base material 1 worked and prepd. to the same shape as the shape of the hole of the reflecting mirror and the electrocasting layer 4 is formed on this thin metallic film 2. The backing metal 3 is formed on this electrocasting layer 4. The electrocasting layer 4 and the backing metal 3 are separated from the base material 1 with the thin metallic film 2 acting as a release material as a boundary by the difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion when an abrupt temp. change is applied to the base material 1 formed with this backing metal 3. The reflecting mirror 5 consisting of the electrocasting layer 4 to serve as a reflecting surface and the backing metal 3 is thus produced. The inexpensive mass production of the reflecting mirror 5 having the desired shape and size with high accuracy is thereby enabled without receiving the restrictions on the shape and size arising from the working stages.
