Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a leakage flux from being generated from an erasing head at the time of recording, by setting the cavity length of the erasing head larger than length equivalent to the product of the maximum stoppage time of a current being impressed on the erasing head and the maximum relative velocity between a magnetic head and a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The operating time TE of a monostable multivibrator 22 is set smaller than the minimum pulse interval T of a write data signal 21. A period tS when an erasing current stops is set as tS<2T-tE against the pulse interval 2XT of the maximum write data. Therefore, by selecting the cavity length GE of the erasing head so as to be GE>tSXVmax against the maximum relative velocity between the head and the medium, it is possible to set all of the areas so that the magnetic field of the erasing head can be impressed on them on the medium. In such a way, it is possible to stop a harmful leakage flux from the erasing head at a moment to write magnetization inversion on the medium.
