Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a high-output synthesized light to be obtained by omitting a cylindrical lens and reducing reflection loss so that parallel elliptical beams may be synthesized where major axes cross orthogonally each other. CONSTITUTION:Radiation light of a semiconductor laser 12 is transformed into a parallel beam by a lens 16, is allowed to radiate through a polarization synthesizer 22, while the radiation light of a semiconductor laser 18 is transformed into a parallel beam by a lens 20, is reflected by a polarization synthesized film 28 of the polarization synthesizer 22, is synthesized with emitted light from the semiconductor laser 22, and then is radiated. The far-field pattern A of synthesized light at this time becomes a synthesis of far-field patterns with approximately elliptic shape whose major axes cross orthogonally each other, thus resulting in an approximately circular shape which is symmetrical in reference to a point. Thus, a cylindrical lens which was provided between the semiconductor laser and lens can be omitted to eliminated reflection loss by the same lens.
