Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the reduction in the effect of reflection of load side by providing a 1/4 wavelength plate to the output side of a semiconductor laser. CONSTITUTION:Linearly polarized waves of parallel rays through a radiation light lens LN from a semiconductor laser LSR are entered to a 1/4 wavelength plate WL and their planes X, Y of polarization of mutually 45 deg. become circularly polarized waves OB by passing the plate WL. The reflected waves RB owing to the mismatching on the load size are also entered as the circularly polarized waves to the plate WL. The planes of polarization of the beams having returned to the linearly polarized waves by passing through the plate WL intersect perpendicularly to the incident waves from the lens LN. Hence, when the reflection components are transmitted to the laser LSR, the effect that they give on its oscillation characteristics may be reduced.
