Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a recording picture having high resolution by determining a control-level variation rule so that dot patterns are projected along lines extended in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction passing the specified position of a dot. CONSTITUTION:When a matrix of 4X4 is used as a gradation expression unit to an input signal in 6 bits per 1 dot and a 64 gradation is expressed by employing six dot patterns of a1-a6 having a control level in 10 per 1 dot, the pattern a5 is formed in a pattern being in contact in 1 dot only to one block of adjacent four blocks, and stable pattern fusion is conducted where being in contact with adjacent blocks in the same manner as the pattern a4. Since the pattern a5 is constituted in a pattern continuing in the vertical direction in the width of lateral 3 dots, however, a thermal head is driven continuously in the sub-scanning direction regarding 3 dot sections when the lateral direction is used as the main scanning direction of the thermal head and the vertical direction as the sub-scanning direction of the thermal head, and stable recording patterns are acquired in the same manner as solid printing regarding the sub- scanning directions of the 3 dot sections. Accordingly, a recording picture having excellent high resolution is obtained.
