Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the number of manufacturing processes of a chip resistor by a method wherein, after an electrode has been formed on the tip faces of the resistance substrate having a horizontal U-shaped section crossing the longitudinal direction using the blended materials consisting of a conductive material and an insulating material, the electrode is cut into a chip shape in such a manner that it crosses the longitudinal direction of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The conductive material such as SnO2 and the like and the ceramic material as an insulating material are blended at the prescribed rate for every resistance value, and they are homogeneously mixed. The mixture is extrusion-molded into the long and narrow shape having the horizontal U-shaped section crossing the longitudinal direction using an extrusion method, the molded product is dried up, a resistance substrate 1 is obtained, it is sintered and its resistance value and other electric characteristics are determined. The electrode material, consisting of Ag, Ni or Cu paste, is printed on the whole part of the tip faces 2 and 2 of the horizontal U-shaped resistance substrate 1, they are sintered, and electrode parts 3 and 3 are formed. The electrodes are cut in such a manner that the section crossing the longitudinal direction has a horizontal U-shape, a synthetic resin sheathing material is printed on the exposed part of the resistance substrate 4 located between the electrodes 3 and 3 of the resistor in such a manner that the synthetic resin sheathing material is partially overlapped on the electrodes 3 and 3, the sheathing material is hardened, and a sheathing film part 5 is formed.
