Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the heat adsorption capacity of an evaporator when operating under low outside temperature conditions by a constitution in which provisions are made for pipes which are disposed in a row relative to the air flow direction and carry a flowing cooling medium, and fins which have a certain ratio between the distance from the pipe center to the windward edge and that to the leeward edge. CONSTITUTION:One row of pipes 11 is disposed relative to the air flow direction 12. Corrugated fins 13 have a certain ratio between the distance A from the pipe center to the windward edge and the distance B to the leeward edge, which is set as 1.3<=A/B<=1.7. The pipes 11 and fins 13 are joined by pipe expansion, etc. By this constitution, the surface temperature of the fins 13 becomes higher toward their windward tip when operating under a heating mode, equalizing the heat transfer quantity from the fin surface, and so, the localized frost growth at the windward edge of the fins 13 can be prevented. As a result, a reduction in the air draft amount through the heat exchanger can be prevented, and the heat adsorption quantity by an evaporator can be made greater over a long period of time.
