Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce an error, by performing a follow-up comparison type conversion after sequential comparison type conversion, and obtaining a digital output signal following up an analog input signal which changes by a small quantity in time sequence. CONSTITUTION:The sequential comparison type conversion is completed in time (t1-t3), and the follow-up comparison type conversion is attached after a time t4. Thus, the follow-up comparison type conversion is added after completing on-going sequential comparison type conversion. Therefore, it is possible to obtain the digital output signal following up the analog input signal which changes in the time sequence with a certain gradient. In such a way, it is possible to reduce a conversion error compared with a case where conversion is performed only by the sequential comparison type conversion. Also, since it is not required to wait until the output of a D/A converter is stabilized, a conversion time can be accelerated.
